Warning:Warning

warning

I created warning labels and placed them throughout a classroom. I made warnings for
the floor, doors, walls, chairs, tables, outlets, light switches, ceilings, television, ventilation
system, cable, chalkboard, garbage can, pencil, wires, pencil sharpener, air, wooden beams,
and pipes. Some warnings I made up and some were warnings from actual products.

This piece is a tongue and cheek comment on how some companies and businesses go to
ridiculous lengths to protect themselves from lawsuits by placing common sense warnings on
everything they produce. This installation is meant to question the absurdities of such warning
labels. Everything can cause potential danger but is it necessary to warn people of every
conceivable one? Do these warnings desensitize people from reading the important ones?
What happened to personal responsibility?
